“GYPSY RED”
The postwar years of the 1950s saw a whole economy change from military to consumer production. Army generals were no longer in charge. Now it was General Motors, the Big Three. Local hometown boys had become soldiers, nomads… a band of Gypsies in uniform sent around the world at someone’s whim.
Sensing this new freedom, the function was supplanted by beauty and imagination; that was the 1950’s.
A Gypsy is a free spirit; red, synonymous with excitement.
