In this fast-paced world, we sometimes forget about the ingenious inventions of yesteryear. The old-timers say you haven’t lived if you have never heard the rumbling thunder from an old steam engine. To actually ride in one through the treacherous mountains was an adventure to last a lifetime. The iron monster would chug and groan as it attempted to conquer the winding trails through hills and valleys. Then suddenly, it was as if the mountains would open up, and there it was, the man-made trestle that seemed to stretch for miles. The faint of heart would just close their eyes, whilst the more daring simply held their breath as the wooden structure creaked beneath the tons of iron, while “Crossing Snowy Canyon.”
